A breath of fresh air!

My Mum and I had one of the best trips we could have asked for, the 9 day tour from Broome to Darwin. Our guide, Tommy was very knowledgeable and made everyone feel comfortable straight away. He was an amazing chef cooking up some culinary delights in the camp ovens such as sundried tomato damper and even some fennel roast pork.

We got into our routine of off loading and loading up the trailer very quickly so that we could be the first of the day to see some amazing sights. So many opportunities to see the exclusive, “off the beaten track” spots and have them all to ourselves.

The Kimberley landscape is to die for, the hikes were so worth it especially when there was a very inviting waterfall or a rope swing at the end!

Some highlights were exploring the indigenous paintings, licking the little citrus ants bottoms, Lake Argyle camping, and meeting the awesome people we shared the truck with. Thanks for making our Mother Daughter escape active, fascinating, entertaining, relaxing and overall just amazing. Would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Loved every moment

We are a family of five who just returned from a great overland adventure from Broome to Darwin. Our guide was is truly passionate about nature, indigenous culture and Australian history. He is a true explorer and his sense of curiosity and fun was contagious and as a result we all threw ourselves into all that the Kimberley region had on offer.

We were a varied group of two families and two singles but we worked well together as a team under the often hilarious overseeing of our guide. Highlights for me were sleeping in a remarkably comfortable swag under a canopy of stars, beautiful varied walks, learning about rock art and Indigenous/Australian history and swimming in pristine waterholes.

Those brave enough jumped from 8 metre cliffs, swung from swing-ropes and swam an underwater tunnel. We had one hilarious evening which started out starry which then quickly erupted into quite a storm where tents blew away and we all got drenched. Yet, the drama of the event became a highlight of hilarious anecdotes of how each of us ‘survived’ the storm.

We were truly submerged in nature which is great for the soul and also a shake up for your sense of humour. I highly recommend KAT to anyone who wants to reconnect with the sublime Australian bush and their own sense of place in nature.

Four children + Kimberley = trip of a lifetime

Our family (two adults, four children aged five through eleven) just finished a tour from Darwin to Broome with Kimberley Adventure Tours. We hoped for the trip of a lifetime, we were not disappointed.

The Kimberley is spectacular, a world-class destination right here in Australia, and still deserted compared to destinations of similar quality.

Our guide (Tim) was knowledgeable, sensible and respectful, and great company. He knew the Kimberley and how to make all aspects of the trip (camping, sightseeing, gorge hopping and waterfall jumping) as rewarding and enjoyable as possible. It seemed we had privileged access to the Kimberley for ten days.

We all loved sleeping in swags under the stars, and our kids slept like logs, testament to how active they were and their involvement (our choice) in setting up, packing up and washing up. And my wife and I were pleasantly surprised at the quality of food that Tim prepared when we were (quite literally) in the middle of nowhere.

To be clear, this is not “glamping”, but a well-organised, properly-resourced adventure, run by someone who really knows what they are doing. It was a truly special experience we will never forget. I can’t recommend KAT highly enough, delighted to answer questions of people who are contemplating this trip with small children. Do it.

An mazing trip that we and our kids will treasure!

This was the most amazing experience in the most amazing country. Our guide, Tommy, was cheeky and fun loving as well as responsible and caring. Our boys (10 and 12 years old) idolised him! It is an experience they (and we) will never forget.

Camping under the stars with not another soul in sight was just so beautiful. We felt very well looked after with fabulous meals from a camp-oven genius and sneaky sight-seeing before the crowds and in out of the way places.

Our boys were up with the sun, packing up swags and getting ready for the day. They were so excited for what each day would bring. I highly recommend this incredible tour with people who know how to really immerse you in the experience. Loved it!

A mum and daughter adventure trip in the Kimberleys

This was my second kimberley adventure trip, my first was so good, I decided to come back again with my 12 year old daughter. And what a fantastic experience I had with her and the rest of the group. Tommy was an absolute legend, so considerate, motivating, fun and a genuine good aussie bloke. If i had a son, I’d want him to turn out just like Tommy!!….. We hiked, we chased waterfalls, we cooked, we laughed, we swam, we experienced Australia as it should be experienced, camping in swags under the stars. I’ll be back with my other daughter when she gets to the same age.

Fantastic Experience

Tom we can’t thank you enough for the passionate , personable and professional manner in which you guided us and our group through some of the most beautiful parts of Australia.

Under your guide we have a new appreciation for the unique beauty of our amazing country and indigenous culture , both past and present , and we will be forever grateful for the experience.

As a reluctant camper I was initially unsure about a trip like this but you were always considerate and empathetic towards the needs of your tour go-ers and we are all so grateful you were our guide.

I thoroughly recommend this tour …expect early starts, somewhat challenging hikes, limited showers, to sleep in swags under the stars, many hours on dusty long roads, and from time to time to be a little uncomfortable but what an unforgettable and amazing experience – I wouldn’t change a thing.

Our children miss hanging out with you!

THANK YOU TOM. You are an asset to KAT.

Everything we could want

This tour was everything we wanted for our first Kimberley experience – adventure, bush camping, sleeping under the stars, swimming in pristine gorges, fun and camaraderie as well as learning and understanding the beautiful and fragile environment.

Thanks in bucket loads to the wonderful Sid our very own “Indiana Jones” for keeping us informed and safe whilst letting the delights of the trip unfold before us. An inspiring trip, one which has changed us and our view on the wilderness in our own backyard.

Our kids (age 7 and 11) were accepted as part of the group. None of the activities was too much for them and they now have lifelong fabulous memories of the Kimberley.
